The Archiving Chain

The INA (National Audiovisual Institute) is the media heritage of the French public broadcasting system supervised by the French Ministry of Culture. As the world's leading resource for digitised audiovisual content, it is in charge of mediatising its collections, knowledge and skills to contribute to a global understanding of today's world through images from the past. It’s missions are:

  • Collection, preservation and cataloguing of audiovisual heritage
  • Broadcasting and production of audiovisual heritage programmes for the public, professionals and other media
  • Knowledge transfer and Consulting
  • Research and innovation
INA training centre is an international centre which provides training for 3,000 professionals from all over the world, and is also committed to higher education with INAsup, a school ranging from technical diplomas to specialized masters degrees. Professionals, students and researchers come to INA to learn about new technologies, meet other professionals and develop skills and knowledge. The course objective is as follows: Understanding every step of the archiving chain, their objectives, the role of the various stakeholders, the workflow.
